Germany - Sorpe Dam

Someone we met today said that a visit to Sorpe Dam in Germany and surrounding area is wonderful. Lots of places to visit around there. They have a caravan and went out and about each day.
Has anyone any information about this area they can let me know about as we have never been to that part of Germany.
Do you have recommendations for aires or campsites as well please.

Went to visit the site of the POW camp my dad was in.. Actually never got there but did the dams instead..

Not visited Sorpe but have done Eder and Mohnsee dams. We toured the area last year. Stopping for a longer period at Willingen and Winterberg. Will return as it’s not too far over. Makes a nice week from Hull/Rotterdam. Some lovely stellplatz around. Mohnsee and Eddersee especially. Can dig out where we stayed if your interested.
