Hello there !!

last week while away on a camp site with the van we were getting regular red warning lights on the Truma control panel. The red light would then be replaced by the normal white one for a while. The water was warming up as normal (not that we witnessed the boiler working as this usually happened while we were asleep or away from the van) so we ignored the problem until it went away. Now no more red light.

A week later, I'm looking for an explanation and all I can think of is that we travelled on a very poor bumpy road for quite some distance and I'm thinking maybe some sediment or debris from the gas bottle got through the gas system and eventually was burnt off.

Does this sound feasible ?

Thank you.

I don't think so. There is usually a filter in the connector to the regulator. Any way, if there was any sediment it would still be held in the liquid not floating in the released gas.
How old is the regulator? It may be becoming temperamental if the diaphragm spring is deteriorating.

Thank for your reply. I have not had a filter fitted and I'm sure the van didn't come with one. The regulator is as old as the van, two and a half years.

How often do people change their bulkhead gas regulator (can't remember which brand but it's not Truma)

Gust of wind blew out the burner flame, resetting later?

Gust of wind ?????? four days of gusts of wind ?. Erm, no.

I have a gas Combi boiler, no electric.

The filter is usually in the end of the flexible pipe. At 2yrs old you shouldn't, have a problem with the regulator. It is usually tested with the habitation service for gas line pressure.
Have you checked the battery voltage. If it drops because you have turned the water pump on to draw water it may be below the control system limit.
It's just a thought.
