Thought this was going to be an easy purchase how wrong i was. The plugin point on our MH is there to run a bbq, saves the hassle of carrying another gas bottle. But these plug in points will only run low pressure models. Cadac seems to be the main one to go to but just wanted to see what you opted for , but must be the plug it type to the gas point on your MH please? I was told that the weber slate 43, you could by an add on kit to convert it to the plugin but that's not correct , this bbq comes with its own small canisters but they only last no time at all. Plus i don't want to be carrying extra gas on board. There are only two of us so looking for something compact that doesn't take up much room and is easy to clean. Really looking forward to your reviews. Cheers 🥂

The outlet on ours is a Bullfinch and we just plug this into it. Obviously, the other is end is connected to a bbq.

In our case, it's a Cadac Safari Chef.

Cadac bbq's frequently come up for sale in Classifieds so might be worth a look in there.

+1 for the Cadac safari chef, the first version folds up neatly into itself but the later versions don't unfortunately. As stated by Gellyneck it's the adapter into the motorhome that you need to check, but both types are readily available and do the same job, whichever BBQ you get.
An advantage of the Cadac is being able to use the Cadac Trio cartridge gas pack. You would be surprised how long each cartridge lasts and it enables you to take the BBQ away from the motorhome. We used ours a few times to go and eat in picnic benches and tables away from the motorhome.

As we cook outside whenever possible I wanted a decent sized BBQ with the option of a grill and plancha. The Napoleon TravelQ PRP285X with scissor cart has served us well and continues to do so. It’s not the least expensive out there, but top quality and also available in a 30mb version suitable for a moho gas supply.

nope.. just the same .. the canisters are useful if you want to BBQ away from your van

and they do last surprisingly long
Now I appreciate the answer will be how long is a piece of string but roughly how long do you get out of a canister ? And what size are these ? Cheers

bear in mind , a Cadac is not a BBQ , it's an outdoor cooking appliance ..it' wont sear a steak and give it a BBQ flavour ..

one canister lasted us for a couple of weeks, using it almost daily.. but it is a piece of string ..

500gr... there are other sizes

Coleman C500 gas

It depends on what connection is fitted to your motorhome, if it's Bullfinch it's the larger red connector. Others are a simple push in which is usually supplied cable tied to the tap. They'll all be 30 bar as that's all they'll allow for type approval.

We use a Cadac Safari & an Ooni pizza oven. for the Cadac we also have the triple cannister holder. The cannisters seem to have a different connector than the generic type sold everywhere.

We have a Cadac Safari Chef 2 - its big enough for 2 people and packs away very small. If you do go for one, make sure you buy the LP (low pressure) version if you want to plug it in to your BBQ point. I would also recommend getting the "QR" version - that one comes with a quick release attachment for the gas pipe rather than the screw on connector on the standard version.

We also have an Outwell Nain table that we stand it on for a bit of extra height - it brings it up to a reasonable height for cooking on without having to crouch/sit down.

One thing is, like all Cadacs, it can suffer a bit if its windy - but I've just bought one of these which looks pretty good (according to the reviews I saw on Amazon, it packs away into the Cadac bag).

We also have the Safari Chef 2. Mostly because we used to take our Weber Q with us, connecting that to the gas outlet on the van via a pipe I made up with connectors... But the Q takes about 3x the sapce in the locker as the Safari chef, and it isn't 3x better at cooking stuff.

Now we only take the Weber if we are entertaining others really -> you can cook for 4 easily on the Safari Chef 2 -> but any more than 4 and you really need a larger model.

Oh do you go into Europe if so are these gas canisters readily available over there 👍
We just made up a make up cable from the cadac to the bullfinch connector. Trivial to do, took us a few hours though, be sure to use gas type jubilee clips on each end if making one yourself. (normal jubilee clips are NOT for use on gas pipe, order from a gas specialist).

I've got a cadac 2 new and old as well as a weber 2200

All works really well of a bullfinch fitting from the motorhome into a quick release connect to all bbqs

Can confirm that a Bullfinch connection works fine with our big Cadac 40. We fitted ours into the MH skirt. Works a treat.
