Hi all. I have an external BBQ that has a hose connection. Within that screw connection is a very small rubber doughnut ring sealing washer. It is found in plan view but also round in cross section and not flat like s tap washer. This has perished and split. Please see photos. Just wondered 1) what it's called so I can look for one. 2) where should I go looking?
Many thanks....

Geometrically speaking it's a torus. A surface of revolution generated by revolving a circle in three-dimensional space about an axis that is coplanar with the circle.

The OP has what is known as a broken torus. :)

But O ring is more widely understood at your local plumbing shop. :)

Ebay, hardware shops, even try poundland.. (y)

Sometimes you just need to know what things are called so you can search for them...

This reminds me of the time when we had a window smashed by a falling tree branch leaving the front window of our caravan needing replacement in France. Well, we got the glass cut to size and shape (it was a very old van using glass), but then we needed to install it with mastic to seal against leaks. So off we go to a hardware store across the road from the glazier. Ever tried explaining in fractured French/English the stuff required? Until the man in the store having brought out all sorts of stuff used the magic word - "Mastique)" This took us the best part of an hour to get to this word!
