Fridge igniter, on or off

Hi.
I run my 20 year old electrolux 3 way camper fridge primarily on gas but
have been caught a few times by the flame going out because of wind or gas bottle empty.
I am wondering, is it a bad thing to leave the igniter switch on all the time.
It flashes until the gas ignites and then stops when lit.
In normal operation you would see the switch flashing and you know there's a problem.

Well I’m i always light my fridge and then turn the igniter off, no point in leaving it on all the time cos if the gas supply fails it’ll just keep,sparking.
But there again I leave my fridge on gas as I drive along

From what I remember from our caravan days we left it on, that is how we knew we were out of gas.
