3 years 30,000 miles UK and Europe.. Campsites and off Grid.
In Luxembourg today. Parked the motorhome in the park and ride (free for 24 hours) and hopped on the bus down to the train station (free!) Then on to the tram into town (FREE!!) And not rubbish transport. Modern, mainly electric, clean, regular, digital arrival time displays etc.

Would be nice wouldn't it?

Yes if only :)

Taxes?
Ex GF lived in Brussels. Excellent public services but boy did they pay for them through taxation.
Also, fabulous standard of living but mortgages & property ownership was rare.

we stayed on an aire about 45 mins from the city - also free and free EHU ! the free and on time public transport was much appreciated !

Nothing free in life - somebody (ie the tax payer) will be paying for it.
Is there a problem with that? Anyone can use it.

Indeed they will, do you have a problem with that? The 'taxpayer' knows that its taxes are going towards generating projects that are likely to encourage tourism, which in turn will generate income for local business. I can't see a problem?
