Hi Everyone, I just renewed the Mo Ho insurance yesterday, and I cancelled the breakdown cover (AA @ £90) because Ford give me free breakdown insurance with the service. However I just read the small print and it does not appear to cover accidents or recovery from outside the UK. Their office is closed today so I can't call to check.

Question 1 has anyone used the Ford assistance service? is it any good?

Question 2 assuming the Ford service is not fit for purpose, can anyone recommend a full service breakdown company please?

Unless it's changed very recently, Ford assistance is / was provided by the A.A.

According to this, European assistance is covered :

Thank you I had missed that bit, but it still does not say it covers accidents, it looks to be breakdown only.

ACCIDENTS
Ford Service Assistance is only provided following a breakdown or accident attended by the police or other emergency service after the services concerned have authorised the vehicle's removal. If the police or emergency service concerned insist on immediate recovery by a third party, the cost of this must be met by you. In the event that the Relevant Vehicle requires recovery following an accident, Ford Service Assistance can, at Our absolute discretion, provide this for you (please refer to the RECOVERY section).
In the event specialist equipment or services are required to complete the job then Ford Service Assistance may arrange these services for you but will not be responsible for meeting the costs involved. You will be required to pay on request any applicable charges. In regard to all matters referred to in this clause, you must give Ford Service Assistance, on request, any relevant information it reasonably requests.
Please note that, following an accident, or otherwise, it is and remains your responsibility to ensure that you properly comply with any requirements of your motor insurer in making a claim under your motor insurance policy.

thanks again where did you find that bit?

Thanks I must be getting old! I read all the stuff on the site apart from terms and conditions. C- must try harder

Ford Assist is a real bonus not just when it comes as standard on a new Ford car or motorhome but even after that if you use a participating Ford dealership then for any service (even minor) you get a years free European cover. Can be great value if you shop around for best service price & get your local/preferred one to match. We have never had to use it for the motorhome but the home start cover was very useful for our car recently (y) Along with the Quickclear windscreen Ford Assist is what we will miss most when we change from a Transit based motorhome to a Jumper one this year.
