do these kits fix leaking valves?

Don't know, but I'd suspect not.

Only a guess however.

I'd be inclined to get a new valve fitted. Or maybe just a valve core to begin with, and see if that sorts it.

Can't imagine a new valve would be that expensive though?

The valve core may be loose. Try tightening it.

I could imagine them causing leaks from the valve..

nope to both points ... i have gunky stuff permanently in my tyres and it neither causes valve leaks or stops valve leaks
