Hi I'm trying to fit a new spring to the top of a Hartal door. I've got a new spring. I can see where the short end goes but I can't see where the long end goes which apparently should go in first. Has anyone done this that can point me in the right direction please. Two pics.

Is that the only access you have ? I did a bit of a bodge job on a friends Carthago a couple of weeks ago but a small panel came off to get at it a bit better.

Sorry should have said temporary repair ;)

Hi, we have the same problem with the broken spring in the Hartal door lock - we have a temporary fix with an elastic band. I could also half open the door and manually push the catch back with a plastic trim tool until elastic band attached. Any recommendations on where to source a replacement spring?
