Fitting a, A-Frame on fiat 500s convertable.

How did you find the routing of the brake cable. It’s the only bit ime not looking forward to as it looks a bit of a bad run from the middle then over to one side did you find it a bit of a severe bend in the cable.

To be totally honest a piece of cake.
1st I line with the brake pedal drill a hole using apx 4mm drill, drill through BOTH bulks head skins,
Put a long ie thin rod through both drilled holes from inside then have a look out side back of engine and see if it's clear in that area in which it was.

Remove rod or what ever you use.

The inside bulk head drill 10mm hole, DO NOT DRILL THROUGH BOTH.

The second bulk head (engine side) you have to drill a larger hole this is so the main cable housing goes through the second part of the bulk head and not both, then the threaded part will go through the first hole you drilled from inside.

HOPE THIS MAKES SENCE.

The only part was hard drilling the second bit of bulk head from the engine side, a normal big drill you cannot get in the area as the front right hand drive shaft is in the way, so you will need a 90 degree angle bit to go into your drill and you can get in the area just.

The bending of the cable no problem as there was no sharp bends, basically like a banana lol

Have a look at the photos attached.

So just so this is a bit clearer

Photo 1, 10mm from inside
Photo 2, a larger drill think it was 15mm from engine to bulk head.

Many thanks for the pics and info. One of the main places I was worried about the bend in the cable was between the attachment point on the bracket and the air con radiator as mine is a very short distance ? Have got air con. I bought my bracket etc secondhand and was originally fitted to a fiat qubo a BBC d one tip I learned is to keep the cable lubed at all times as this one had obviously seized and when pedal was being operated instead of sliding in outer cable it just bent and crumpled the inner cable. Will send you a pic if I get time but definitely one to watch out for. Do you have any pics of you’re front cable mount
Many thanks

Well A-frame finally arrived today took me apx 6 hours to do would of been a little less if I had the right drill o well all done.

I put the electrical plug in the lower grill thought it looked better and no lifting of the bonnet to connect it.
Just shows you how good a job you actually do with out paying a fortune to the fitting guys....Great job well done !
