Hi everyone. My Ducato motorhome is due its first 2 year service, it has covered 2,485 miles.
I have been told by a fiat dealership that I must have a full service to comply with the warranty at £450. Just wanted to check with you that this is right or not. I will definitely do oil and oil filter but not sure about the other items at only 2,485 miles. Many thanks for any advice.

Believe you can get the service done anywhere (VAT registered business?) using approved parts and maintain the warranty.
When our two year service came around (2015) we had a similar mileage on the clock and local FIAT Professional service point said low mileage oil and filter change would suffice.

i just did an oil and filter change on mine and a general check over remember some vans only have a 2 year fiat warranty and some are 3 years mine was 2

Mine is only 2 years so I took it to an independent, had full service as we had only done 18000 miles cost £250. 2nd service due soon but only done 10000-12000 since last one so will just have a light service around £120 but will probably get the brake fluid changed as we do a fair few mountains on our trips.

So, given above you've had the second service done! Did you get the brake fluid done?;):giggle:;):giggle:;)

You can get it done anywhere.
However if something goes wrong after warranty fiat are more likely to make a good will gesture if you have a full Fiat service history. My Airbag ECU failed at 4 years and Fiat paid for the new unit.

How long does the fiat warranty last then?
I thought it was only two years anyway

UK convertor motorhomes have 3 years (or at least they did). 3rd year covered by FIAT Pro, from memory.

I said due soon, I will get it done in May, it's not going far before then & I think I will get it done. They normally check the fluid and only change if they think it's necessary.

The warranty does seem to vary massively. We have a PVC and ours is 3 years however our Fiat Assist breakdown is only 1 year because IH, like a few of the other UK converters of PVCs is not on Fiat’s recognised list of converters. It’s a real minefield with no UK standard.

I know the question is about services but I wouldn’t want to give Fiat fuel to wiggle out of warranty issues so for our 2 year service we will be off to Adam Morey at Bournemouth.

Our warranty is 2 years but the breakdown cover is 3 years, only found that out after I'd paid for breakdown cover for the 3rd year.
You really have to read the warranty & breakdown books carefully.

I know, it’s so confusing. Nick did phone Fiat to double check because everyone , including some of the insurance companies, were saying that the Fiat Assist would be for at least 2 years. I reckon on our previous IH we thought we had it for more than 1 year so wouldn’t have been covered abroad. Our fault, not IH because their blurb says 1 yr. we would have been OK in the U.K. as we are covered with the bank. Makes my hair stand on end! I think one year we did have Safeguard so would have been OK.

Ours came with 2yrs but paid the extra £800 to extend to 5yrs this includes fiat assistant for the 5yrs as well but you only have 14 days to take the extended warranty out from first registration which they don't tell you about.

Glad I had the 5 year warranty, 2 months to go and the airbag ecu failed. Dropped it off and no bill to pay, except fiat have none until mid April at the earliest

I asked our local Fiat dealer dealer to do a low mileage service at the first two-year service. It cost under £200 but still had a stamp in the service book. Then had a full service at three years, but as I recall significantly less than the £450 quoted to the OP.

I had a doblo van in 2014 , they quoted £450 for the 2nd service ,I took it to a vat registered garage who used parts bought from fiat , they did it for half that

Some months later the suspension started clonking still under warranty so I took it to fiat expecting a fight but they just fixed it, didn't even ask to see the service history.

The dealerships are franchises , they get paid by fiat to fix warranty issues , obviously if they'd tried to charge me I'd have taken it elsewhere so they'd earn nothing.

I think the only time there'll be an issue is if it needs to be referred to fiat but it's up to you to decide whether the saving is worth the potential hassle if you get a problem.

With any job I never supply my own parts if I can help it because if there's a problem the manufacturer blames the fitter and the fitter blames the manufacturer

They supply and fit it's their problem
