Fire Bucket

No they don't, they say its a good idea!
Actually probably not a "good idea". It's well known the more perceived safety systems you put in, the more people relax and consequently more accidents happen. Or as told by RoSPA some years ago, you can make fire safety intuitive and in built, but if some people are told things are fireproof, that have to test it. That's why is now called 'fire retardant'.

A bucket chain WAS an very effective means of firefighting, when Campsites were used for Tent Camping , it's not what you have. but the way you use it...but technology has moved on since then, unfortunately some rules haven't....,🚒

They used to make a man walk in front of cars with a red flag as well 😂

Very effective against speeding 👍😂

We sat our fire bucket beside our van at a music festival (probably out of THS habit), two nights later I used it on one of those little hot air balloons that came down on an adjacent tent, luckily we were there at the right time and got to it straight away and they got away with just a melted hole in their awning.

About 14 years ago I received a very nasty burn when cooking in the motorhome. We were at Shepton Mallet or Malvern show if I remember correctly.

I quickly went through all of the water in our on-board tank trying to cool it. Then I required paramedic treatment.

I would have been so grateful for a fire bucket of extra water that day.

I was looking for a fire bucket (for THSs) but wanted a space saving folding one. This came today, on offer at only a fiver plus p&p so £8.88 in total, It's brill.

Its coming out at over £11 for me.
£5 for the bucket and £6.50 delivery via dpd!
Have you got a code to use please.
Thanks.

Not quite in the same context but it relates to fire buckets on camp sites.
When our son was an assistant cub leader he took his own tent on camps. The warden for our local scout camp site insisted all tents have a fire bucket outside.
The warden went into melt down when he found our son had put his milk in the fire bucket. To follow this the kids had a water fight with the contents of the fire buckets when they were packing up.

Ahh....so sorry to ask the most stupidest question but....THS?? What's that, please?
....and a fire bucket to go on site....I take it I've never stayed at one then (a THS) as never heard of having to do so, nor have we ever bought and taken one

Just so I know where not to book...us MH'ers don't need extra faff 🤭

Tempory Holiday Site under the C&CC banner, anyone can stop at them providing you are a member of the C&CC.
They can be a on a rally field next to a site, just a farmers field & quite a lot at Rugby & Football clubs.

We are on one at the moment at Tiverton Rugby Club, pitches on the rugby pitches, water avaliable and a manhole for emptying and access to the bar, £12.60 a night. Prices of THS vary from £7 to £25 most are around £10-£12.

You can turn up at one and join the C&CC there I believe.

Can't see that working well. Surely the plastic bucket will just burn when you light a fire in it.

The first ever THS we stayed on was at at York Cricket Club.

We were asked to deploy a fire bucket.

Being new to MH'ing we had scraped together some stuff including a cleaned out Snowcem 10 litre paint bucket.

I duly filled it up with water and positioned it as required.

Margaret was horrified and insisted we walk into York to get a suitable replacement. We walked into York and couldn't find a red bucket!

4th next best solution was a pack of multicolour insulation tape from Poundstretcher.

This was duly used as shown below....

Nine years later is still in use as....
Fire Bucket
Emergency Ice bucket for beers.
Laundry bucket
Foot Spa
Grey water bucket.

No lack of style here ::bigsmile:::bigsmile:

Once it's in your basket change the delivery option to Royal Mail.
Just ordered to replace our old hard plastic bucket which takes up too much space.
Thanks for the heads up.
Saw these at a show some time ago and they were more than £5 !!!!
Well chuffed.

We go to ccc ths quite often with our caravanning friends who are sticklers for rules. On our third trip for a laugh I brought along my new red builders bucket with fire wrote on the front. What a handy piece of equipment it is, we take it on every trip. I've filled up my water when no hose tap attachments on wilding sites. It's a great dog bowl and invaluable when my boy was catching Cray fish in leyburn. You can wash your windscreen, wash the dog. Bathe your feet.

Not when mains electricity and Lithium batteries are involved.

Looks like an LGBT themed one.

I carry three buckets, two of which are collapsible and used for laundry duty. The third is receptacle for several pairs of trainer although I sometimes deploy it in it's firefighting role if lighting my charcoal disposable barbie.

Didn't have electricity or Lithium batteries at youth camps that I was involved with....what we did have was Ridge Tents and Campfires...a bad combination that would need an odd bucket of water to deal quickly with, especially when we Rubbed two boys scouts together..🥴🧒🧑
