Finding an adapted MH with roof rails

I have friends with one partner disabled/wheelchair bound and with very limited strength. She must be lifted into/out of the wheelchair, and this is usually achieved with a hoist - either free standing or (preferably) attached to roof rails. They're considering buying or renting an adapted motorhome, so they can travel to meet friends and relations around Europe without worrying about what facilities will be at the other end.

This area is all new to me (and them). What's the best place to start - are there dealers who specialise in this sort of customisation? Do such adapted motorhomes ever come up for sale second hand? Any advice gratefully received - thanks!

Thanks - but I think the problem will be getting on/off the wheelchair without a hoist - not sure how a hoist would work in this space.

We use an Autochair Milford hoist to lift Sue, with MS, into the passenger seat. I then use a transfer stand to put her on to a small wheel chair and push her to the rear seats. Am also working on pushing her on a wheeled bar stool down the aisle.

This is a company in Devon a friend works for.No idea if they have other workshops closer to you though ?

That’s where I get my hand controls done, it’s a family business and they don't have any other premises, they do some good work and have had products from them for nearly 20yrs..

I imagine retrofitting suitable rails wouldn't be too difficult, especially if you go for an H2 height PVC, which will have a tall & wide opening door and loads of strength where the bars need to mount.
