Fiat Ducato Benimar
Hi all,
We are new to this 😀
We own a Fiat Ducato Benimar Benivan and would like to change the front passenger seat for a swivel bench and wondered if anyone could point us in the direction of obtaining one, not from Ebay or Facebook please?
Many thanks in advance

Don't know if the new ones are different but on mine the swivel is between the seat and the framework. There is no way the twin seat I removed could be used with the swivel I have.
Someone does make a swivel for the twin seat as I have seen one. But as I said earlier I think the frame would foul anything under the seat.
If you go on one of the 'self build camper' groups I suspect people would bite your hand off for a swap.

Don't undersell the seat, a single passenger seat is worth a good £500+ and a bench seat somewhat worthless.

Yes ridiculous amounts of money for single seats & even dearer here in spain.I found the cheapest way was to buy a drivers seat for my transit at a scrapyard & fit that on the passenger side as all fixings are the same as a bench

From your member info it seems you have a coach built. There may be stuff ( batteries etc) under your seat which will be in the way of the framework for the twin seat. As said above they are virtually worthless so should be easy to get on gumtree or eBay.

Thank you for your response. My understanding is that the bench seat fits to the existing single passenger swivel base?

Personally If you have the room to keep it keep it stored
You will get hammered with any trade in price in the future and also any private sale
Just a thought for safety a single swivel plate is not designed to hold the weight of 2 persons so any accident inherits may fall fowl of any claim
In theory you need to inform the insurance company
Just a few things to think about

We shall keep the single seat and replace when/if we sell.
We are aware we will have to inform DVLA and insurance company too.

This is of interest to me.

The Ducato based V-line we’ve purchased only has 2 travel seats, the front 2 that swivel.
When we were looking at Van internal layouts we decided we couldn’t have what we ideally wanted, 4 travel seats, lengthways rear beds, and a decent sized Toilet/Shower room.
We compromised on the additional travel seats in favour of the others.

We don’t really want to revisit what other model we could have purchased please as we’ve paid for it now and are really happy with our choice.

Changing the single swivelling passenger seat for a twin swivelling one would give us one more seat if we needed it in the future.
Our recently married son and his wife will be borrowing the van, you never know they might need another seat at some point!!!

But, although I’m sure it would be really easy to add another seatbelt using standard Ducato parts, what’s the deal with changing the registration etc to 3 seats?
I know from experience with Land Rovers that changing the number of seats without doing the registration bit can land you in hot water, and possibly invalidate your insurance.

How easy is it to change in this instance?

your understanding is wrong ,the single and double fit to the same connections on the van the frame work under the double is one piece where as the drivers seat is seperate from the box below .the usual swivel goes between the box and seat.swivel goes between those
there are swivels made for vws that go between the floor and seat frame ive not seen this type for fiats
i know a lot of vw boys who fitted one and removed it later as more trouble than its worth
