Hiya funsters, anyone with a fiat Ducati base vehicle changed a wheel yet? Don't wait till it's a forced job at side of road.my service engineer advised the wheels tend to stick to the hub and take some real physical strength to get off.he put some copper slip on mine when re-fitting for future ease.

The tyre fitter place on Orkney that was repairing a slow puncture on our X250 Ducato had a h*ll of a job getting the wheel off!
Our local service guy also said they were a nightmare when taking them off to check brakes, etc.

Read this thread, it might help.

Isn't the Ducati Base Vehicle a bit low on payload?

Cheers

Possibly but that's not a problem for my very limited cargo👍

Good point, but mine didn't get a comprehensive PDI before I got it, which I didn't know until much later ☹️.
Not ideal. If wheels aren’t removed you will never know the real condition of brakes especially the park brake.

True, I've got a good mechanic who's very thorough so I know it's in safe hands.

I watched them swapping mine back to front and they didn't seem to have any trouble with the wheels.

Do you think the air impact gun would have bounced them off?

In my case two guys had to use a wood baton and a lump hammer to free it.A reliable mechanic has told me he has come across this many times but a smear of copper slip stops the moisture at the back of wheel which causes it.

Just an afterthought,if you've had a blowout and your at side of road I don't think you'll have an air impact hammer with you haha 🙂

I wouldn't be changing a wheel at the side of the road - Far too hard and dangerous.

I don't even carry a spare - If the goo dunt work it down to my breakdown service

But if your Vehicle is meant to have a spare wheel, your breakdown Co will charge you the full amount for a Call Out and the Work carried out,if said wheel not Available...

Almost all Fiat Ducato do not come with a spare wheel or even room for one only the gunk and compressor

Ducati???🤔🤔 Surely Ducato!!

just had 4 new tyres put on mine and they had no issues ,except finding the torque settings for the bolts which we had no joy with until i spotted the sticker on the door saying 180 .

PVC may not, but nearly all Newer Coachbuilt with Alloys have...

Not my 2019.
I also see so many people fitted spare tyre racks and wheel's as an after market addition.
I'm also sure I don't have the spare payload at 3,500 kg to carry one. Many others haven't but hey who will notice?

Think you'll find fitting a rack is to free internal space that the Spare Wheel is taking up...
You when one of the others go flat ;)

All new Adria PVC (Fiat) come with a full spare wheel underslung the rear. My 2012 Bessacarr (Fiat) had a full size steel spare fitted inside the garage on the rear wall but I’ve not seen many newer vans with a spare

I don't think many new coach built vans do come with spare wheels because of the weight limit restriction.
Many are not even recommended to run with full water tanks - including my 2019 Burstner

Imagine if you only had 3500kg to play with and away for 5 weeks at a time.
Spare wheel, tyre and tools are all left in the garage, just not needed.

Luckily not a Issue for me, quite capable of removing a Ducato wheel...

Good for you, I'm in Portugal/Spain for the Next 3 Months ish, so thought it would be a good idea to bring them, as Fiat were good enough to supply them, and Luckily I'm capable of changing a Ducato wheel...

Imagine your predicament if it was late at night and it was the side wall damaged...then what ? Guaranteed to be a Very Long Night...

Have you tried it?
How safe is it on that scissor jack?
Did you need a big breaker bar?
