I’m a newbie
I pick my 5 year old MH up on 9 September. A year's warranty is included as per usual. The dealership have asked me if i want to extend that for another 2 years at £400 rather than the usual £800 for 2 years as a special collection day rate. What do you think?

I would be wary, quite often these warranties aren't worth the paper they're written on.They need very careful scruitiny to see what is NOT covered.
Also you can get lots of jobs done for £400 if needed....
Cheers, Dave (y)

I think it depends on how much of a “belt and braces” man you are,and how affordable it is for you.
There is some peace of mind in knowing that you might have some costs covered in the event of an expensive fault.
I took out an extended warranty when I bought the Rapido, never needed it so some would say it was a waste of money. Fine by me,that was my decision at the time and I could easily afford it.
It also helped to stop the duchess going in to panic mode when a fault was detected.......that’s worth a few hundred quid in itself!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I would phone round your local dealers and ask if any of them are prepared to do insurance warranty work. That will tell you.

I know that we won't and we are not alone as we never get paid and we become the insurers "bad boys" as we have to tell you what is and isn't covered and that you'll have to pay the difference, leading to bad feelings when in reality it's nothing to do with us

People get ripped off from dealers when they buy the van in the first place, it’s just they’re way of ripping you off some more.....?

When we bought our last 2nd hand MH from a dealer the gave me a gold protection insurance policy for 1 year as I was concerned about the possibility of gearbox / clutch issues as our mh suffered from judder gate, so they included the warranty.
I never needed to use it but I'm glad I didn't as it was pointless for what it was meant to cover, as I discovered it had a policy cap of £1000, once reached the policy expired, so you would not get much labour for 1k especially when it came to engine or gearbox problems.

Keep your cash. Maybe in 12 months you may fancy a change of van anyway.

a lot of warranties will only pay a hourly labour rate of around £40 so pretty much worthless as finding a good garage that will work for that is unlikely
