Hi just wondering how to find out if my hymer has a device that once the hab batteries are charged my engine battery gets charged also.
There is a schaudt Zentralverriegelung model zm01 in the hab area but not sure of its use.thanks

Hi there
I'm no Tecky guy here merely a driver and enjoyer of where I stay!
Shouldn't your engine do that whilst its running?
Do you refer to whilst plugged into EHU. Are you expecting EHU to charge the Engine Battery?
I think mine does but not too sure if that is factory fitted..

I have just added a second solar panel to the roof and a device that trickle charges both rehab and engine whilst not on hook up and in storage.
You can alter the trickle to percentages also... i have mine presently on 50-50 but imagine if you went away off grid for a period of time then you could change it to say 90 hab and 10 engine... pretty cool.

I have just got back to my Van and both batteries were at 13v....

Hi Paul
Thanks for your reply.
I too have a 150w solar panel but did not fit a device to trickle charge . I just noticed today that at 7am the readings for the battery's where
Hab 13.9..car 13.0v and this afternoon the readings where
Hab 14.2..car 13.3 v without moving .I can understand the solar charge on hab battery but not on car battery unless this model has something preinstalled?
The van has not been started in 2 months hence my concern for the battery's.
Thanks again

Hi Gerh66 how are you...?

nice to see you back on...?

from your readings it looks like the solar is charging the the hab batteries and once on float the trickle charge IS going to the cab battery... although I don’t know a lot about it but you appear to have a b2b somewhere and it looks like it’s doing it’s job nicely...?

l don’t know a lot about electrics but know enough that it’s working ok or not...?

hope you and the wife are fine and see you around again sometime..??

Hi Gary nice to hear from you . Alls well here in Donegal.
Hope you are keeping well
Yes there seems to be something topping up the car battery just not sure what.
Too much spare time on our hands at mo with this lockdown

Keep safe and hopefully we shall meet up in the not too distant future ??

Doesn't a b2b only work when the alternator is turning, ie when the engine is running?

As I said I don’t know a lot .... but something is charging the cab battery..? He has a very nice fully equipped motorhome and whatever he has it seems to be doing it’s job, I know it doesn’t answer he’s questioning but I have met him and just wanted to reassure him that the batteries appear ok and well charged.... I’m sure someone with better knowledge then me (which isn’t hard) will be along soon and give better answers...?

I have the vanbitz b2b and my cab battery charges while sat on the drive...??

This question can only be answered if you know how the solar has been fitted

I have an S800 and the solar wasn’t wired through the controller, but I can tell from the display on the solar controller which battery is being charged, confirmed by the Hymer controller display for each battery

You could tell by taking a meter reading across the battery. If the sun is shining brightly the voltage should be greater than 12.8v if the solar controller is charging it.

Thanks for the replies.
The solar is wired to a controller which only tells me it is charging the hab battery and is not wired to the hymer control panel.
But as Gary says something must be sending a charge to cab and I thought it might be that schaudt control box thing I mentioned in original post

I was so impressed with your solar capacity on your cracker motorhome Gary on return home I got the solar fitted .
Thanks again?

Don’t know if this helps any, but on our S800, we changed the existing solar controller (Schaudt LR1218) to the Schaudt LRM1218. This charges both hab and cab batteries.
