My van is 2017 renault master on the cross member under the bonnet it says R1234

My understanding is that the nozzle that the recharge valve fits to on the van are both different so the wrong gas cannot be filled into the system
and on the gauge used for the R134 gas only that gas will fit that gauge.

so i went to the garage and the R134 gauge fits my van but not the gauge for the R1234 which the registration number and the details on the van state it should be.

Renault arent much help.

So does anyone know if the van was filled up with the wrong gas will it have any detriment effect to the system other than wasteing £50
Just to note there is no pressure currently in the system when the garage checked

Thanks in advance for any advice

You can charge a system with any Refrigerant. The connectors don't make Amy difference. Thats more a case of identifying.

As you Vehicle is a 2017. There is a good chance its a R134a System. R1234yf was brought in around 2015. But it took some time for it to be rolled out into production.

Can you take a photo of the plate that states R1234yf ? An one of the connectors with cap removed.

R134a and R1234yf are incompatible

Don’t waste your time getting a garage to do air con just find a refrigerator/ air conditioning firm and get the job done correctly for much less.

Your right about getting the job done correctly. I did approach a local company and i guess due to liability they said if the paperwork side says one thing and looking under the bonnet you see something different we dont want to get involved.

now the van is an ex Renault main dealer delivery van from new so only one owner so to speak that could have worked on it.
is the engine and van on a crossover year. has the front panel been replaced with the wrong one.

Cost wise for the R134 gas its £50 and for the R1234 £100 so not the end of the world except for knowing if it will do any harm.

basically can be put in is the wrong one acording to the paperwork side of things ?

Upshot is went back to Colchester Renault they just scatched there heads said it could have the wrong hoses on or the wrong sticker
contacted the dealer who owned it as there delivery van and they replied straight away and said they have no records of any work being done on the air con so hoses are original and they believe its the 134 gas system which is the same as the connections on the hoses.
