Hi all,

Well we've recently swapped to an Elddis Encore with a 4.5m Dometic PW1000 awning fitted.
On our Auto-Trail it had a semi recessed awning and we used a Kampa air awning threaded in the groove.
This awning won't fit the Elddis as it's too tall, but the Dometic isn't recessed so the Kampa awning wasn't flush to the van sides when we tried it.
It was away from the van sides by the depth of the awning cassette, approx 3" or so.
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for a suitable awning for the Elddis/Dometic, either air awning or safari room type ?
(there is a rubber strip along the top length of the Dometic awning, presumably to stop rain running down the back)

Thanks

If there is room you could put an awning channel underneath the awning on the van wall.

That's what I found out with my Dometic awning. Plus the Dometic storm straps are naff. Not strong enough. Quite disappointed. you can't use the Fiamma straps with a front blocker because there's only the one channel, from memory. Might have to just tie it with a knot on the corners.

Hi, thanks for the suggestions and comments. Seems like I'll be popping over to the Dometic stand at the NEC next week and see what they have

We have a Vango Kela , it’s an Elddis PVC with Dometic wind out awning that we have. You can get the TALL version for Motorhomes, air beam , goes up /down in about 20 mins , beams pump up easily with supplied hand pump but you can get 12v pump to suit. Packs away into bag will store easily in a Motorhome. Love it .
