I’m looking into a hot starting reluctance on my 2012 Euro 5 Burstner Travel Van and have a NEXLINK scanner. Is there a Ducato specific App that could be useful for my iPhone? Would CAR SCANNER be as good as any?

Cold start seems ok, although there is a delay before engine turning over after I have turned the key and the preheat light has gone out (short duration light hot or cold). I also have to hold the key over until I’m sure it has started from cold, otherwise it frequently doesn’t continue to run.

I’m hoping it’s just a poor earth issue but I haven’t been able to add a single jump lead between chassis and engine to see if that helps yet.

Looking at the NEXLINK web site it is not compatible with the only applications currently able to read fiat specific codes, ie multiecuscan and alfaobd. aT least you havent got a euro6 which needs the oil system reset. multiecuscan has windows (reccommended) and IOs versions alfaobd comes in windows and android flavours.

Thanks. So I need a different piece of hardware then? Or maybe it could read some useful generic sensor values, perhaps…..

Thanks Andy. I read your post on email notification. Strange it doesn’t seem to be here on my iPad. I got plenty of generic info on car scanner but nothing I could usefully use. Neither could I usefully identify places to connect the half jump lead under the bonnet. When the problem next arises I’ll hopefully connect the scanner to see if any fault shows at that time.
I baulked a bit at the price, for my skill level, of going down the multiecuscan Wi-Fi route. 🤔

The ability to read error codes and live date should be at top of list.

There are shedloads of cheap ELM327Bluetooth adaptors that work with Generic OBD but not specific Fiat codes and PIDs.
I also use The Vgate-iCarPro from ebay used with multiecuscan alfaobd and torque pro.

Below is a template i created and use for my twin egr ducato (2017)

For generic info i use torque pro on an android phone and tablet. The only apples i know about is Coxes orange pipins.
It is cheaper to buy a second hand laptop and Multiecuscan than go down the apple route, i now know of 2 people who have gone down the route avoiding ios one new and one 2nd hand laptop.

Ah. Well I’m sure the route you suggest would be best. Having a brain that could interpret the information available is more of a problem. I’m ‘thinking’ that hoping for fiat specific codes is a bit ahead of my game at present. Grateful for your advice. Going to ask 1stborn next.
