My van is a 2022 Fiat Ducato (8 series).
I would like to understand if it's viable to service it by myself (oil, filters, etc.) without the intervention from FIAT.
As far as I know, from 8 series onward, the van has a new gateway that makes things work a bit different than before (some codes can't be cleared anymore with a standard OBD reader device).
It seems to be necessary to have a PC connected (with the proper software) to a FIAT server to reset some codes (also that connection was necessary to make a key duplicate, for example).
I believe that connection is also necessary to reset even the periodic maintenance notifications?
What I know for sure is that if you do the oil change, the oil degradation counter can be reseted by the old fashioned brake and accelerator pedal manoeuvre.
Has anybody here serviced a series 8 (or onward) without the FIAT intervention?
Thanks.

Not answering all your questions 😔.
If you don't use Fiat Professional then your Fiat history will be incomplete and there maybe warranty consequences.
If there is a warranty claim and evidence of non Fiat work you will have consequences.
Just one point is that the oil degradation is an algorithm. Not a pedal push.
Pays your money, takes your chance 😲.

I have a 22 Ducato and I can confirm that the dealer who supplied it could not reset the oil degradation counter following its 2 year service and I had to take it to a Fiat Professional to have it reset (Fiat insisted on redoing the whole service, Dealer paid). I can also confirm that my second service with a very highly regarded local specialist could not reset either the oil service nor oil degradation counter, claimed their latest software updates could still not breach the firewall. I have decided to leave it (still had a reasonable life left) and will have it serviced and MOT at a Fiat Professional when due

3 years UE vehicle warranty? that's already expired in my vehicle anyway.
The oil degradation countdown resets to 30000 km, if you do the pedal combination, I'm positive that this works.
Something else is that this countdown it not only considers km but also an internal algorithm that watches also other vehicle parameters.

I am not saying I did it correctly, however, I tried every pedal combination possible after watching numerous youtube video's and I couldn't get any to work, please post if you find a winning combination

There was a discussion few months back where I posted a link to a YT video about it with an older model, but It worked also with a series 8 from somebody I know. In this specific video its five times.

Now, there are more videos out there about 8 series, and they did six times:

Nobody else on here has done full service on a series 8 without the FIAT Professional intervention?
Maybe the1andonly has more information about this new gateway?

Sorry I dont know the engines by series numbers. The 2.3 motors can be reset and tested with MES upto 22 with SGW By pass cable. I believe the 2.2 will have SGW in the BCM so very restrictive access. For most people this will mean Fiat. I have never reset with voodoo jazz hands/ or even jazz feet as i got the software from (oil change) day 1.
For early Euro6 models I was convinced there was no pedal combo would do the job but found that this was possible on early ecm versions that twin egr versions should have updated.

Thanks for the input (series 8 is the 2.2 engine). I see, probably we'll have to rely on FP.
I had a bad experience in my first service a year and half ago and soon I have the dilemma to go to the same sh**ty place or look for another one and see how it goes. It's difficult to find professionals that can do a really caring job with the van, even if it's just changing some filters. It seems they just want to finish the job as fast as possible
