Had the dreaded cluster lights come on dim and then bright when there were no issues. having read lots about Ducato dash warning light issues i was keeping my head down as the van is now 4 1/2 years old and well out of warranty.:(

anyway last trip out switched on cruise control and as i looked at the dash i had additional lights on ( cruise, Imobaliser, air bag, ) OH DASH! i thought or something to that effect:rolleyes:. switched off cruise control all normal.

check fault codes with my OBD2 dongle there were none! so the dreaded warning light failure....(n)

Dreading a bill of £850 plus i started my search. found a couple of companies who specialise in dash cluster repairs.
the one I choose was Cartronics of Waterlooville. spoke to them on the phone and out came
4 simple screws, 2 clips and a plug to remove the dash and the cluster and off in the post. 48 hours later cluster returned fully repaired and all functioning.(y)
lifetime warranty on the work.(y)

the only downside was £150 plus postage. but better than the cost of a new cluster.:)

but well pleased with the work and professionalism of this company. (y)

Had mine done last week by Days Peugeot of Haverfordwest - very helpful and very good service. Luckily still in warranty so at no cost to me although I am told the actual part would be around £750 if I had to pay for it!

There are clusters out there NEW and cheaper

My understanding is Fiat/Peugeot/Citroen are honouring the warranty on this fault even on vehicles where warranty has expired. If you experience this fault I suggest you try your nearest Fiat/Peugeot/Citroen dealer first.

Wellll.. it looks like those dashes WILL be the same and still have the problem.. How do I know this ?
Cos the ones being fitted as replacement by Fiat and Pug are still failing too !!

Had a problem with mine 03 reg, after having messed about with an amateur fixer I went to a proper mechanic and got it sorted, the data was being compromised between the ECU and the dash, long story, tried to have the dash repaired but it would appear that Fiat outsourced the spec to 3rd parties to build and they are different..

My problem was temp gauge..Now working well...

You have up to six years under the Sale of Goods Act. Four years is not a reasonable length of time for that part of a vehicle to last.

I've been on our 2014 van today and there were 3 lights dimly laminated airbag, abs, and red warning light, so it looks like calling at Peugeot garage tomorrow, just over 3 months warranty left on van.

I'm with Brian on this one @hilldweller.

This is a recognised fault and has had recall notices from the manufacturers.
If they're not prepared to rectify the problem out of warranty, get the job done. Pay the bill then take them to the Small Claims Court.
Either The Sales of Goods Act (or whatever it's 'new' name is) or the fact that it a recognised fault will get the result.

I'm getting confused. (No change there)
I've got a fiat on an 11 plate but is the basic model, with a simple dash layout. No ave speed or fuel consumption etc. Am I likely to experience these problems in future?
Geoff

My Fiat dashboard went within a month of the warranty ending. Fiat insisted that it was taken to an agent. The receptionist said I needed a new dashboard and the technician said I needed a new dashboard after looking at my pics and before plugging in the diagnostics. £96 later I phoned Fiat to ask how they would re-imburse the money. They wouldn't. The agent did when I went to have the new dashboard fitted. Could have been handled better but all good in the end.

Ring Fiat I found them very helpfull 4 year MH

Just had the instrument cluster repaired, under warranty, on our Peugeot based Bailey. The work authorised required the garage to remove the cluster and send it to Cartronix (as detailed by Camdoon above). Took l ess than a week. Removing the cluster is really simple; 4 screws and unplug the connector.
Hasn't sorted the ambient temperature thermometer from giving crazy readings though. This started about the same time as the well-known instrument cluster problem. Can live with the van telling me it's 68 degrees when it's -2!

I know this an old thread but we just had the dreaded cluster problem 1 day, yes 1 day outside warranty and we are waiting to see if fiat will do it . We have a swift 3 year warranty but the dealer doesn't know if it covers the cluster. Waiting and hoping

Is there a number to ring Fiat or do you just contact you local dealer?

They did mine when 2 months out of warranty. After talking to Fiat, I had to go to a Fiat pro service station and they charged £80 plus Vat for the privilege. It was refunded when Fiat covered the replacement. Assuming you have a full service history you will be okay

Did you phone fiat yourself or do it through the garage.

Our 4 year old Ducato had the same fault which it seems is an apparent fault, I phoned Fiat and after 15 mins on the phone they agreed to change the cluster as a gesture of good will.

Always worth checking with the main dealer first.

I phoned Fiat customer services and they insisted I went to their commercial Fiat pro who charged me although both the receptionist and technician knew what was wrong without looking at it. Fiat pro refunded the diagnostic costs when the repair was authorised. Fiat customer services denied there was a general issue with their dashes :).
