Hello there !

I've just got a new and unexpected problem on my Fiat Ducato x290 in that both my door indicators have stopped working. The remaining front/rear indicators work but flash faster than usual.

I don't think both bulbs would fail at the same time and I'm not sure where to start.

Any help really appreciated.

TIA

You probably need a good Auto Electrician. I had similar, tried new bulbs checking contacts etc turned out to be the ECU, horribly expensive, but I later learned there are guys who repair them.

That doesn't sound very cheerful. I'd read about airbag and seat belt warning ECU problems. Not indicators ! :cautious:

I have a suspicion that the mirror indicators have a separate fuse to the main ones, that or the negative wire for them in behind the panel beside your knee needs cleaning and reattaching

That's a lot more cheerful. I'll check that out !

I had a look at an online fuse diagram for the Ducato and it doesn't have any fuses for the indicators. That doesn't sound right

Hi did you ever find out what was wrong my van has the same problem thanks

Yes that's correct, no fuses, relys on the electronics to limit the current if there is a problem.

Thanks

Both bulbs had blown. We'll never know why. Not happened since.

You can tell a lot from a failed bulb. Colour of glass, cracked glass, melted filament, broken filament etc. etc.
Police forensic people can easily tell if a lamp was on at the time of impact by the distorted shape of the filament.

Under a microscope the filament will have ‘globules’ of molten glass on it if the bulb was on at the time the glass broke on impact. Whereas if the lamp was off at impact the filament will be clear.
