Dogs on buses in France?

hi all is it ok to bring dogs on buses in France?

As far as I am aware only small dogs that fit into a carrier bag are allowed on. They never allow my small Labrador on

I always thought dogs and cigarettes were compulsory in France and if it is the dog that is smoking he/she gets automatically enrolled in the priority passenger scheme.

On the few occasions we've tried the bus in France, we were told the dogs needed to wear a muzzle while they were on the bus. That was also required for the ferry, so we had the muzzles already.
