Hi, the electric hob on my oven keeps blowing the circuit breaker when switched on so am down to only using the gas. I’m wondering how to take the top off so as to check electrics. The oven plugs into mains under cooker and I have checked the plug with other appliances and it works fine.
any advice ?

Sound like the element has gone short circuit you will need to replace the ring.

Yer I kinda thought that, any idea how to take it off ?

Some hob tops come off from the top, some from underneath. Almost certainly the gas will have to be disconnected, so I would advise getting a Gas Safe registered engineer to fit the new hotplate.

It is also possible that it's not the hotplate that is at fault, I have known it to be a wire that has rubbed the insulation off and is causing the problem.

Probably clamps from underneath if the hob doesn't unscrew you will probably have to take the cooker out.
If that's the case probably not worth the hassle as you have 3 gas rings which are much more efficient anyway.
