Bought my used motorhome privately before lockdown. It came with new mot, gas check/certificate but I never got round to having a damp test done due to Covid restrictions.

Its a 2002 Roller Team Auto Roller 5, 6 berther 42k miles....got it serviced last month mechanic thinks basically sound mechanically!

Can't see any damp stains, or smell of damp, or warped floors etc... saw a few old damp test reports from years ago in the log book which were all fine.

Should I really book one in???

You don't say how old are the previous damp checks but since you cannot find any evidence of damp it would be a matter of obtaining peace of mind (or not ;) ). Mind you, it has been very dry (in Sussex) for 3 months.
Personally I wouldn't, but then I'm not a worrier.

The tests were done at various stages in its life! It is over 18yr old.....I think the most recent one was about 5yrs ago

...Im not particularly worried but my wife keeps mentioning that other forums and MMM mags etc mention testing for damp when buying secondhand!? And this is our first one, so I'm just a novice in these matters....but I do have a nose and eyes!!😄🤥😶

The seller of a leaking van can always park it under cover with a dehumidifier running. Damp check will not show until it after you take it out in the rain. A good visual look is important. Of course, a van with signs of damp can be bought cheaply, do a little resealing work and you have a bargain. Really bad water damage will be obvious and smell. Also consider how long you are going to keep the van and how easy you can sell it once you have done the work.

Thanks 68c...my mechanic mentioned cleaning underneath and spraying it for about £150 if I wanted it.

Buy a damp meter and do it yourself?

Was thinking that but I suppose you need to know which areas to test, what are the ranges etc....
