Crossing the Pyrenees in May

Just doing some planning.
Obviously a lot of crossing roads and maybe tunnels are closed during winter.
What's it like in Early May?
Will most be open.

We will only have normal Michelin Agilis M&S tyres on.

Note, we have never been there before.

Won't be any problems in May. I did it in December with snow, it wasn't great but I got down the other side no bother.

May will be fine and more daylight time to enjoy the spectacular views.

If you cross via the Somport Tunnel, they have snow ploughs working all the time when snow is about. Even though we drive to a portugal all the time, our preferred route is Bordeaux, south until toll road starts, south east towards Mont de Marson, then Pau, Olorone st. Marie, Jaca, Pamplona, Burgos, keep going west til we reach an exit for Portugal.

Road is so easy, laid back, that way for us all the time. No tolls all the way.

I made a poor decision to try a new route back once in late March and ended up going over the top !!!! 8' snow banks either side of the road but the roads themselves were totally clear... The wife never lets me forget that..

We’ve crossed via Somport in March and had no problems. Snowploughs there ready to go if needed, they are very good at keeping their roads open (unlike UK)

Yes but we haven’t had chance to put it on our new van yet as we bought this one 2 weeks before Christmas and darent risk not getting all the paperwork back before our trip to Spain over new year. We are back to UK if feb so will put it on then.
