What a wonderful place, Found on the way home on a scenic run home. It was so nice we stopped the night. There are two options, the free overnight car park centrally to the town high street or the riverside site - we chose the site for water and showers. Amazing place and £20/23 without or with EHU. Independent shops, bakery, butchers, lots of pubs and a great Indian. We’ll be back later this year.

One of our favourite places, the walks or cycle rides along the canal are really good.

Also one of our favs - great facilities and friendly accommodating owner. Good pub at the top of the town and lovely walks up to the canal and around.

Booked for next weekend.
Looking forward to some country walks with the dog and pub food (y)

Thanks for the recommendations!

Can also recommend The Dragon Inn on the High Street. Fantastic food and good beer. Unfortunately it looks like the Bridge End Inn, which was at the end of the bridge surprisingly, is now closed down. They did good food and a very decent range of beers, and best of all was a very short stagger back to the site.
Lovely site.

Will book the Dragon Inn for Saturday night thanks (y)

If you are in the area , you could visit Talgarth which has a working Bread mill, water powered , you can have a tour to see it all working, very interesting, Hay on Wye is worth visiting too, called the Book town for a reason, for food I can highly recommend the Honey cafe in Bronnlys , ( between Talgarth and Hay on Wye , lunch and evening meals, if just coffee and cake, their cakes are amazing, plenty of parking! , also worth visiting is llantony abbey, small vans can go their via hay on Wye and over Hay bluff Mountain pass, amazing views, for motorhomes visiting Llanthoney abbey, please drive around and go via Crickhowell, you will not make it between Hay Bluff and Llanthoney, without some roof damage., if time allows go to The Elan Valley Dams and reservoirs too, but further out but amazing!, Talleybont reservoir is a good one too

And pontneddfechan , the most beautiful series of waterfalls in the UK, pure bliss, walks between an hour up till 8 hours, one of the waterfalls you can walk behind!

Thanks for the reccommendations unfortunately we are only there for 2 nights and not planning on taking the van off site.
We have stayed on a campsite in Talybont On Usk which I would love to recommend but cannot remember the name!!
The Elan valley we did last year and was a fantastic drive albeit a bit tight in places but worth it for the views! We were staying at Red Kite which is another of our favorites.
We will definately be visiting Waterfall Country on our next trip to Wales. We really like Mid Wales and its not too far from Bristol so ideal for a weekend away.

Thanks Again 👍

Just returned and had a great weekend.
Really nice campsite in a perfect location if you like to mix up your walking with a few pints and some good meals out.
Crickhowell is a lovely town with some great independent stores and is a 10 minute walk from the campsite.
Had a great meal in the Dragon and the dog was given the celebrity treatment which he loved (think he ate more than us)!
Did a 5 mile walk on the Saturday which was fairly easy going as 1.5 miles alongside a canal.
Thanks for all the recommendations I think this is a perfect campsite for any time of year. Unfortunately they close next weekend until March otherwise we would have tried to book between Christmas and the New Year.👍

That was my last trip before I started back at uni. The waterfalls are spectacular! And I've seen loads because I seek them out when walking all over the country! Below is a shot from behind the fall.

Yes we are planning a return visit in the spring to check out the waterfalls.
To us Wales has the best of everything coastline and mountains but without the crowds you get in the Lake District and Cornwall.

It is absolutely stunning, did you do the full walk? Its a very long walk if you do the horse shoe, but so worth it!

If you like coastline and a waterfall check out Tresaith, beautiful bay and beach with a waterfall landing on the beach from a great height.

The international Welsh rarebit restaurant is close by and definitely worth a visit too.
