Just received notification from Coney Park Storage near Leeds Bradford airport to say that they're not longer accepting motorhomes for storage and those currently on site will not be allowed to renew their subscription.
It's a shame for us as I've used this place for the past 15+ years.
They've said that they've take the decision to reduce caravan/motorhome storage by a third and were asking for volunteers to leave but haven't had the expected uptake so decided to only offer caravan storage. They had quite a lot of motorhomes in storage and some large ones too.
They're expanding leasing their land to airport car parking.
I suspect that the theft of some motorhomes back in June has made the decision a little easier for them.
Someone told me that their cctv wasn't working and there were wrangling's between the owners insurance company and the site over who pays out. The facility is COSSOA silver which is security fenced, gated and cctv.
It's funny that a few years back, comfort insurance told me that their underwriter Aviva would no longer cover motorhomes kept in storage at Coney and when I queried this with Coney, they told me that they couldn't understand why?
Anyway, two days of ringing around surrounding facilities have drawn a blank with everywhere full within a 25mile radius.
We have space at home but the road and drive gradient will not take it.
Fingers crossed that some availability will crop up between now and October otherwise it may be goodbye to motor homing.

I think several storage places will follow suit.
Putting a 20' storage container in the parking slot will raise roughly double he rental per year.

Storage Containers are a lot less trouble than motorhomes, caravans and boats.
(and you can get in a lot more per acre)

I don't know how far from Castleford you are, Castleford Caravan Storage have just been taken over and look like they are expanding there storage space, I've been with them for theist 2 years and not had any problems, they are COSSOA Platinum.

I'd move house.
First & really only thing I ever looked at was size of garage/s,off road parking etc. House could always be extended later

Hi, we are Coney also, I’ve got in to a tourer world site at Huddersfield, we live 2 miles from Coney Park! Our letter says we have until 31/1/26 to move the van.

It’s a pity letters went out in drips and drabs, there were others who got letters a week before us.

Good luck but with 100+ motorhomes looking it’s not easy and very frustrating. I just grabbed it after struggling like you and even looking for land to buy to turn into a storage facility.

They’ve had caravans stolen in the recent past.

Have you tried this place don’t advertise much, may not even do any more

Yes, we got our letter a while after others. I thought it must have been sent out based on alphabetical order.
I’ll give Greenside a try - thank you

Would it be practical and/or cost effective to level your sloping drive?
I’ve looked at doing this but I’d have to ask the highways to also adjust the pavement and road.
Plus, the neighbours drive is about 2ft lower and there’s a lamp post to contend with.
Delivery trucks and skip wagons have got up but all bottom out and scrape. I’ve only had one driver drop a wheel onto next doors drive which took some getting out.

There’s a storage place off kirkstall road, on the old power station site by the canal - it’s accessed off kirkstall road just after the cinema complex, the road that goes down to ‘Goals’ and the 9 hole golf course.
