Has anyone traveled through Euro Tunnel in their motorhome with a composite gas bottle fitted.Mine has no gauge on the top.Just markings and its see through within its holder. How does Eurotunnel check the level of the bottle ?I don’t want to drive to Calais and then be turned away.

They only check that the bottles are turned off at the valve so you should be fine.

They don't check the level of a single bottle.
They normally ensure its secure and turned off.
Is it see through all the way around or just one strip for viewing. If it is one strip turn the strip inwards so cannot be seen.
If the bottle is a recognised make and has the usual test tag attached and its in date. Then I would expect it to be excepted.

In the past they used to ask if they were turned off. Since then they have sometimes checked for themselves.
I have SafeFill which are (semi-) transparent (not much good for seeing the level).
I'm pretty sure you'll be OK.
If you have them turned off before being asked, there should be nothing to upset them and persuade them to look further.

This is from their website..
"
  • For portable containers (cylinders/bottles, etc): Maximum of 47kg per cylinder and no more than 50kg per Vehicle if more than 1 container;"
So your easily within the limits.. The largest full Safefill is 10kg so you could in theory carry 5.. (y) !!
