As above. Just about to set off with Grandkids for a couple of nights up at Hunstanton.

Engine started as normal on first turn of key. Message on dash “check transmission see handbook” when I try to select a gear it says “gear unavailable”

I have read on the forum a process for resetting the gear selector, but for the love of me can’t find anything on the search section, now that I need it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ironically it’s booked in to Adam’s Morey at Portsmouth next Thursday for a service and Comformatic oil change and kiss point reset.

Thanks to anyone who can shed any light on my issues Derry.

Has it been a while since you've been out in it? The hydraulic pressure may be too low for the robot to function. I'd turn on the ignition and when all warning lights go off, turn it off. Then repeat a few times. Then do a start. Always wait for warning lights to go off before the final twist to start.

When I had Comformatics I had that message a few times, turning the ignition off for 15min always sorted it.

If it doesn't clear give Simon at Adams Morey a ring I'm sure he will talk you through it.
Thanks Len. The immediate issue was to try and recover the weekend for gran kids, we managed to hire the last vacant mobile home they had on site, so quickly swapped everything for the van to to car and set off for Hunstanton, so that was the that hurdle sorted.

Back to the van. Towards the end Sep it had its MoT, all past no issues (at 22,000 miles I wouldn’t expect any) the following weekend we went to our favourite off grid site for the weekend. On the way, on a couple of occasions when pulling away from roundabouts it appeared to lose power for just a few seconds then away it would go no issues, parked up for 2 days then set of for home on Monday with no problems whatsoever all the 50 miles back home. I just put it down to gremlins. Next trip was to the NEC show, filled up with fuel 4 miles from home, when I went to pull off forecourt it wouldn’t go into gear straight away, had to have a couple of attempts before it selected 1st and off we set. Said to Mrs W I’ll see our it goes for 10miles which I did with no issues, so continued to show, stopped overnight then back home, no issues whatsoever As it’s due for service next month decided to book into AM Portsmouth and get the comformatic fluids and kiss point done at the same time. Did nothing different this morning. Started first time, but would not select a gear. My son suggested I lift the weight of the wheels using the HP levelers which I did, the only difference is you could feel it trying to select a gear but not fully engaging. At this point I switched off and reverted to the knowledge of the forum. I will try the fix as you suggested when back home on Sunday afternoon.

Thanks as always. Derry

Thanks Growly bear.
Just tried as you suggested. Turn ignition on (but not attempt to start) wait for most of the lights to go out (except oil, battery and handbrake) these only go out after it’s started. Left for 15mins, repeated 3 times after the 3rd 15mins started the engine and a few seconds later the same error message appears on screen. Before I call Simon at AM Portsmouth tomorrow morning, do you have a further suggestion, please.
Thanks Derry

It's difficult without MES to do much more. It could be water ingress from the scuttle which collects in the engine fuse box. In that box is the fuse and relay for the hydraulic pump. Could check the dot4 and hydraulic fluid reservoirs on the right hand side. The cylinder is dot 4, the cuboid is hydraulic fluid.
I've heard of the limp mode, but neither the Fiat manual or anywhere else provides any detail to this.

When I had trouble a few years back while in Spain, some suggested disconnecting battery for 30 minutes then reconnect. Didn't work for me but mine turned out to be clutch bearing.
Also check oil level
