I've spotted an Efoy 1600 24V XL going cheap on eBay http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5...0001&campid=5338547443&icep_item=303717528991 as the vendor can't confirm its condition.

Taken from a 'government vehicle' in 2016 and kept on a shelf since then; the vendor hasn't tested it.

I'm interested in a quiet source of power but wondering whether it can be converted to 12V internally, or do I need a B2B charger? My Clou has solar panels and a 24V chassis but the 12V and 24V systems aren't connected afaik.

Secondly, my understanding is that the Efoy system wears out after a period of use. Has anyone renovated an older system? In the UK, or do they need to go to Munich?

There is apparently no user servicable parts in them, but yes they have a service centre somewhere by Munich.

I dont see why you cannot feed the 24v into a regulator or such as Amazon product ASIN B01KQWWSLA efoy is not super high power so it need not be a heavy duty device.

I believe Fuel Cell Systems at Hungerford service Efoys. They are also well informed and I have found them very helpful, I would phone them and seek some guidance.

Some more thoughts, the Efoy should log any faults it has had and the hours it has run. If the vendor was prepared to attach it to an appropriate battery and plug the display in he/she could read off the history.

One complication might not only be the output voltage but the input voltage. My Efoy (12V) has just one battery connection for both input and output, it monitors the voltage and turns on and off according to the chosen parameters. If that battery connection is via another device such as a voltage regulator it will not read the battery and not start running and I guess it will not be powered up anyway.

If you buy 200 amp Lithium battery and 250W solar panels you don’t need anything else. Lot of power for everything you need and want.
Efoy is old technology :giggle:

So old that the Dutch Ministry of Defence is now trialing them for use by field units and glamping providers in Canada and Finland are using them in remote cabins. They are expensive so they are not going to replace solar but they have their place.
