As Lyndon said, everyone on the “Funsters” Moroccan tour in September had handheld radios of one type or another. In the Desert Detours Support truck we have a UHF base station for use with several handheld units, just in case. More and more of our clients are asking about and are fitting CB’s, so we are looking into that as well.
Strictly speaking you do need licences and in the past it was common for units to be taken away at the border……a receipt was issued and you collected the unit on your way out. [that was also the case with mobile phones and GPS units some years ago!] But to be honest I have not seen that happen for a long time and they no longer ask at the border if you have a CB’s/UHF etc…….
I think that they are small enough to just put away somewhere and use when you are “In Country”……….Don’t be daft enough to chat on-air at the borderoh:
