Is the annual membership worth it - are the grounds any better than none motor club sites ? Comments would be appreciated cheers

This will indeed turn into a messy matter of opinions....but it has been worth it to me, from the pay on arrival booking system to the clean, well kept standard of the sites.

Yep, it’s worth it. You know what you are getting. The difference between prices for members and non-members, (where they allow them), means that you get your money back in about five nights stay.

Not the cheapest around and they do have rules which upsets some people.

40 pager popcorn moment. Join for a year, not a great overhead, you may not rejoin next year but may do sometime when it does suit.

Nope
Expensive sites with minimal facilities
Wardens variable from absolutely fabulous to absolute Jobsworths
sites in popular places booked up months in advance but the weekend you want becomes free on the Friday night to late to get there

CCC nearly as bad

Been motorhoming for just over a year and we have used a few. We are generally pleased with them, we like the order and cleanliness of most sites we have stayed on, we tend look to book CMC OR CC sites first if available. May start to be a bit more adventurous in future once COVID-19 disappears. Living the dream. SMUDGER55

No, didnt' renew after just one year. Didn't see the benefit. The only reason we joined was for the discounts and they aren't that great.

Is it still the case in the that in the Motorhome and Caravan club you can book sites a year in advance via the online booking system? Is there a charge if you do not fullfill that booking?

I think it’s worth it for a few reasons, main one being the CL system as they have loads ranging from limited facilities to everything you’d need in some great locations, I also think their main sites are well kept with decent facilities. In the 15 years I’ve been a member I’ve yet to come across a little hitler of a warden.
A big bonus for us is the discount on ferry crossings as we tend to use Hull twice a year and we can get our membership money back in the savings off one crossing.

We in both but C&CC is the club we use most, for THS, cheap getaways,

We use both clubs, mainly because SWMBO likes her ‘creature-comforts’ - privacy cubicles, etc.! Of course, we have a ‘privacy cubicle’ in the ‘van, but it’s seldom used..........!

Yes, the CLs are worth it alone for us and we did use the London sites frequently. Good sites easy website and booking.

Some CMC sites are better than others although the overall standard is very good. Good enough to keep SWMBO happy (which is our top priority, of course). The Club invests in a programme to refurbish their older site facilities, and installs more drive-over motorhome grey water emptying points to make their sites motorhome friendly. I expect the Club to add fast chargers for EVs to their site network. The only thing I wish the Club would provide is dividing hedges between pitches, as many French sites do.

Nowadays some commercial sites are as good as, or even better than Club ones, although they may charge higher fees than the Club. We use them too if they are in the right location, but if you book in advance they normally demand a deposit, unlike the CMC.

Please, please, please not on Scottish pitches! It'll mean the wee biting blighters will be able to sneak up on us unnoticed.

Works for us. Wife prefers CMC sites to CCC sites but we are members of both. As others have suggested, join for a year and see if it works for you.

The ferry discounts are nothing to rave about. I went to Ireland last year and booked again this year for the NW200 and on both occasions the fares were cheaper through Ferries Direct,or Direct Ferries...I can't seem to remember at the mo which way round it goes; senior moment!
