Hi everyone
The Camping and caravan club executive saw fit to waste members funds by closing the Braithwaite Village site for 4 days to "open it"
They lost 4 days revenue and disappointed hundreds of people to lord it up at an unnecessary function.
Their customer service will not give a reason for this abuse of privilege only to say it was deemed necessary.

That’s what they do. Best thing is to stay away from these “clubs” who do what suites them, not their members. Typical uk stuff.

I may be mistaken but I thought I read something about they had an invited guests pre opening shakedown to test everything after the refurbishment. Not a bad idea if it means the paying visitors arrive to find everything as they would expect from a club site.

Someone with a grudge to bare but to be honest been a member now for a few years and not used any site at all, I just use Pitchup.

I'm sure that members vote to give the executives the power to do these things. Letting them know that you disagree and that they'll not be getting your vote next time around, is about all you can do.

I expect that you let the Executive know your thoughts in writing and asked for a reply from them? Otherwise why make your beef here when it is the CAMC club that should be the first to know, not via their Customer Service.

I take it you are a fully paid up member ? If so you have a vote, so use it 👍

New Pubs, hotels and restaurants do this all the time before officially opening. Tests systems, kitchens, staff etc before being let loose on the public.

I may be wrong but could this have been what was going on?🤷‍♂️

Hi
That's a good theory but the site has been up and running for over 2 years. Covid stopped an earlier jolly.
Just snobbish executive wasting members money

As usual, just one side of the argument and the anti-any-club knockers getting involved. There must be a point to posting this, but what is it?

Ron, welcome, the site was an independent before the ‘the club’ bought it. They have spent a lot of cash to pander to the holiday lodge brigade and I expect they wanted to show off to the local dignitaries how they are going to increase visitor numbers without having lots of snails( caravans) and juggernauts ( Motorhomes) cluttering the roads around the National Park. They will have a grand plan and it will not stop at Braithwaite site there will be more.👿

I thought it was a C&C site

Been members of c&cc for years but never stayed on one of their sites. Did try a couple ofCAMC sites a few years back but hated the regimentation. On the Brighton site in a winter gale the commandant insisted on us parking broadside on to the wind. As soon as he went turned 90 degrees and had a much more comfortable night.

Tried to send private message re the club Pitchup but it won't allow me to contact that member.

The following is my message. Does anyone know the answer please?

Sorry to trouble you but just seen your post re the above. I had never heard of it before but, on googling, it looks ideal for a technophobe like me who only has a mobile phone.

I can't find how much it is to join. It seems to just say 'register'. Can you tell me how much it is please as money is carefully handled.

Pitchup.com is a website listing campsites all over the country. Useful for finding sites with vacant pitches. There is no fee to register or use the website

I've used Pitchup before, as Itsmcb says, it's a website, easy to use and no problems at all.

Back to CCC, my sister, a very experienced caravanner, has been invited in the past to use a CCC site free of charge to "stress test" it before opening it up fully after a refurb , so that's definitely something they do....still waiting for my invitation!!!
