Well travelled
I cleaned behind the door seal and sprayed some ACF50 in there as Hymer doors blister there.
Now the rubber seal has wrinkled and won't lay flat again. This will make matters worse than if I'd left it alone.
Any idea how to get it back to how it should be ??

Oops. Found this on ACF 50 company website. Sorry not helpful!

ACF-50 over spray will not harm any rubber components but saturation of "natural rubber" in door gaskets and window seals or harness gaiters of old cars or motorcycles (40+ years) should be avoided, as this may cause the rubber to elongate or swell.
If you need advice please give us a call on 01689-808978, mail@acf‐50.co.uk ‐ or ‐ visit www.acf‐50.co.uk

With Annie here on this....vaseline would have done or a silicone spray. Sorry if it does not help but its always better to test than to saturate. It may dry out and come back to normal....I doubt though sorry!

If it should not return to normal...Seals plus direct!

Would a hairdryer help at all ? Just thinking to heat the rubber and then maybe you could squash or straighten it a bit. But it may make it even worse :(

I think you will probably need to fit a new door seal :(

It may well shrink back to its original shape as the fluid evaporates. ACF-50 is a light oil with about 5% Naptha.

If you want to scare yourself google ACF-50 COSHH,

It should come up with a pdf file of the safety leaflet for the product.

COSHH Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health.

For future reference I find the best product for rubber seals etc is Gummi Pflege ... it does have some repair capabilities also so may help your current proble.

Oh :swear2:

I'm pleased in a way I was just about to buy a can for similar use.

I looked at the seal, can't for the life of me see how to get it off. I can flatten it back to the door, so will try some contact adhesive and stick it back.

I have checked both cans of the ACF50 and nothing on it suggests it affects rubber.
