Sorry for this I know it’s been asked lots before but I need assistance.
I’m heading to a camping car park aire in Laruns. I’ve never used an aire before. I’ve downloaded the app and loaded some euros into it. When I try to book a pitch it tells me I have to have a privaledges pack and wants 43 euros! Is this right? Can I just use the activate button on the app upon arrival? I think it gives me an entry code then but I’m not sure. Any help would be much appreciated.

You have to have the privilege pack to be able to book in advance. Otherwise you just turn up. Not sure how the app entry works as I haven't been to one since it was introduced but I imagine it will be straightforward. I've never booked. Only once we arrived to find the last space had just gone but otherwise there has always been space.

Correct, without the Priv Pack just click Access on the App before entering.

If you subsequently decide to 'Book before Hand', be aware that you cannot enter the Aire before the time entered as the time of arrival at the Aire, a new inconvenience as a result of the new way of doing things!

Have a look at the camping car app and choose the aire that you fancy. Then when you read the description you will be able to see how many places are available at that time. CCP are constantly pushing the purchase of the privilege pack but you don’t need it. Have a great trip.

Not the best but only for 1 night. Going over the Col du pourtalet tomorrow heading for donastia San Sebastián for 3 days. I couldn’t get a connection on my phone to get in so phoned them. Very helpful and card popped out of the machine for me so I assume they do issue cards.

I think someone posted in another thread on here a few days ago that CCP now make purchase of the Pack’Privileges obligatory for new subscribers? I don’t know if this is correct or not - hopefully not, I have to say we’ve never bothered with it, but generally don’t visit in peak season or the most popular locations.
In that same thread someone reported them as saying that they no longer send out cards but some machines at CCPs may still have old stock.

We struggled with the App at La Canourgue, just saw a load of numbers spinning around on my phone, luckily we had the plastic card, probably doing something wrong but it’s a bit stressful trying something new whilst at the gate

I have used CCP as my preferred Aires of choice and can say that should you need assistance someone is on the other end of the phone.
Only ever reserve if it’s looking as though it’s likely to be full when arrive.

The €43 would be 15 for Aire and 29 for Privilege Pack ?As a first time user you have to pay for a minimum of 24 hours, you can stay for say 3 days then top up your account with 2 x the price of a 24 hour stay. In future you pay to leave, I have entered with 9 cents on account.
Hang on to card as it is easier to flash than entering the code, especially when code/card reader is playing up. Don't buy privilege pack if you don't want to.

I am sure someone who is in France can enlighten us if that is the case.

Yes, at least the code was the same for our 2 week tour last month

And when pre-booking you also have to enter your intended departure time, your not automatically given 24hrs
