It might be me but I have just been on their site ,looking at their Derwent water site . £215 for 4 nights ,they are having a laugh . Now I could have cocked it up but I have checked and couldn’t see any obvious faults.

I just tried to get in to their website. Their logo just keeps twirling around!
EDIT. Got in, but minimum five nights at Derwent Water. No availability July 20th.

I am not sure I put the dates in that worked out to 4 nights but I am going to go back on the site and try again but I have to say I don’t have a lot of luck with their website 🤷‍♂️

Just been back on no pitches available now , you have to be quick or quicker than me anyway 😂 As they say who dares wins 👍

Part of the trouble is some people block book dates and then decide which to attend and cancel others which they do not want. All wrong IMO.

I have always said the system is floored... convenient but floored.

Personally I have never cancelled a booking apart from one time, months in advance to rebook at another (always full) CAMC location that came available.

Edit. Sorry, thought this was about CAMC, same applies.

My finger hovered over the "Book now" button for the Devizes site (CCCS site) in early July for 7 nights but suddenly thought "what do I do when I go there?" Pubs and restaurants probably closed or made uninhabitable with SD screens and other impediments, shower and toilet blocks closed, social distancing on the site which precludes easy sharing a bottle of plonk with other folks, walking around looking like a ghoul with those dreadful face masks etc. etc. I'm sure if you travel as a couple it would be OK, but I'm a singleton and I enjoy meeting other people on site, on walks, sitting in the pub/cafe/restaurant so I think I'm just going to write 2020 off for staying in the MH and use it for long day trips in my glorious county. Ho hum, perhaps my MH days are coming to an end after almost 30 years.

Yeah I get them mixed up as well. You are correct though re the CAMC booking system being flawed. They should take a deposit like CCC does to prevent the block bookings. The deposit would help to stop this happening.

Those where the exact thoughts I had Jon ,but we know someone that will be there at the same time so I guess that will counteract not going to the pub and meeting people . You never know the pubs might be open in some shape or form . Don’t give up on motorhoming just yet Jon let’s see how it goes this year 👍

That's exactly how I am feeling at the moment!

I had planned on going to the THS at Kingston Maurward College in Dorchester again this year as social distancing is possible, music making everywhere and there are some lovely walks from there.

I am not a member but have booked a site in the New Forest for 6th July, they have just sent me a note informing of the sites which are closed and those open without facilities which is good for me.

We were supposed to be going to uttoxeter on 16th july then on Monday the partners horsey mates told her they believed the races had swapped from 15th to 16th which meant we would not be allowed to get on site.
Went to cmc website and had an online chat with them to check dates etc, they couldn't do anything so they were going to ring me Tuesday and then uttoxeter was one of the shut all year sites made public tuesday.
The Cmc man online tried for ages to check and sort the booking so I don't believe he knew they were going to be shut all year

I have taken this up with the CAMC More than Once. WE like Rowntree park (York) it`s convenient and SWMBO, can use her mobility scoot right from the site into the centre. It`s all but booked solid from 1 min past midnight on the first of January every year!. At one time we used to go there in the R-V for Xmas. having no family in this country (at that time). The last time, I pulled in, was told I was too big for his pitches. despite the fact that I had been putting the R-V on them for over 5 years!. And told the site was otherwise FULLY booked. After some "discussion" involving Head office. I was generously "allowed" to go on what was then the "overflow", where we and one other spent a pleasant 3 or 4 days. On Xmas day on this "fully booked" site I personally counted over 20 empty pitches. including 3 I had previously had the R-V on!. I even sent the photographs to the Club. To this day I have never had even an acknowledgement!. The CCC`s "booking fee" idea can be a PITA for anyone with medical issues, re cancelling at last minute and refunds etc;. But at least you have more chance of booking in the first place!.

Impossible, the CAMC booking system works on a rolling 12 month basis.

I`ve had that happen to me. The work a round seems to be to log on from say a google search and not from a saved "bookmark"?. Especially if you have your logon saved?.
Bu**r. Now it`s doing it from Google! you can get on site but the member login is just circulating!.

Edit;- Yup. still circulating by my estimate now coming up 20 min.

Does now, but at onetime it was from 1st of Jan.

Update. The CCC are looking at opening a large number of their sites from 4th July.

Edit the CAMC Site is like wise looking to open up from July 4th. so it looks as if Overnighting is back on the agenda.

Wow -is that going to be the norm? Its the price of a hotel/b+b on Wowcher.

Just had a confusing e.mail from C&CC. “ sorry e.mail sent in error “

I’just had one listing all their open/closed, with/without facilities, was this the error one or an e.mail I received a couple of weeks ago confirming a booking for Camping in the Forest.

The conformation one I had not done on the official club booking system as I could not get any sense out of it but though another site that took the twenty five pound deposit but charged me the full non member/senior rate. If the booking is ok I shall sort out the correct charge when I get to the site.

I have sent an e.mail advising that members of forums are questioning their ability to run the club in an acceptable way. I think we should write to HRH Duke of E as he is the head “ honcho “ and express our disappointment at the way the club has reacted to the pandemic.
