Cable size for inverter?

Hi all I will be fitting a Renogy 2000w inverter to my van and would like know what size cable to use and fuse type please. The run is about 1 metre. Also how do I connect the 'ups' feature please. A picture of the fuse would be helpful.

You’d need to be sizing the cable for 200 to 250A, so, according to the to the 12V Planet Cable Sizing Calculator you would be looking at 50mm2 cable, fused accordingly.

A 50mm2 cable would be rated at some 350A so a 300A fuse would protect that.

I used 35mm for mine as the furthest battery pole was around 2 metres. By UPs I assume you mean automatic changeover switch. I removed the incoming mains ehu lead from the consumer unit and connected it to a 3 pin socket I mounted next to the inverter. I then ran a new lead from the consumer unit mains feed back to the inverter and fitted a 3 pin plug which plugs into the socket outlet on the inverter. Then I plugged the power cable from the inverter into the new socket. I fitted the remote control within easy reach of the kitchen. Remember when using the inverter to make sure the on board charger is switched off. I don’t use electric heating when using the inverter either.

I used 70mm2 with my Victron 2000w inverter, as that was the recommended size. It’s alway good to go bigger with cable sizing. It’s not cheap but I can sleep at night not worrying about wires overheating.

Like Cockers above I used 70mm2 on a 300 ah Fogstar to busbar and the 2000VA Multiplus inverter/charger to bus bar were 35mm2

A Mega size link fuse would be suitable, they are available up to 500A. Midi fuses are a very similar shape, but a bit smaller, and only go up to about 150A. You can get fuse holders to take them, the fuse is bolted down with the cable , the holders can slot together if you have more than one.

Spot on this info! So I'll use 50mm2 cable over a run of about 1 metre. I'll fit a 300a midi fuse as close to positive pole as I can.

Well I thought I'd bought the 2000w inverter but I hadn't id bought the 1000w Anyway I've fitted it today it was a right Chew having to move my new lithium and B2B to accommodate it but it's in and works. Whilst I had seat off I changed the starter battery which was goosed and removed the old leisure battery. When I originally put my lithium in last year I kept the leisure battery under seat hoping it would strengthen the starter battery. It didn't as starter battery is goosed but leisure battery is fine but couldn't help the van start. All good now though.
I halved the size of cable suggested for the 2000w inverter from 50mm2 to 25mm2 and fitted a 150A midi fuse.

This is my consumption using a 650w oiled filled radiator.

Looks tidy enough with seat back in.
