Hi,
wondering if anyone can help us get our dreams of touring Spain and Europe in a campervan off the ground please?

We are in Spain having got our NL visa and had hoped to buy a camper out here (and sit the Spanish driving test ), however stock seems to be in equally short supply as in the UK. We are seeking a new or used 3-4 berth campervan style rather than a large motorhome to buy in Southern Spain. Or we would potentially look at importing from Germany.

We would love to go via the Spanish classified ads but fear our lack of Spanish, lack of technical knowledge and bewilderment at the legal process could lead to a bad buy or a legal error, so we feel a dealership might be the best bet.
Can anyone recommend a good dealership in Sothern Spain or Germany that are accustomed to dealing with foreign buyers and can guide us through the process.
Alternatively, does anyone know of a company set up for the purpose of assisting foreign buyers including things like habitation and general condition checks as well as all the paperwork when looking at used vehicles?

Any assistance gratefully appreciated.

I'm fairly sure that you need residencia to buy a vehicle. And think you need Spanish license to take the test.

Depends on what part of southern spain you are in. Have you looked at Sangar in Cartagena? BTW I have bought cars in Spain as a non-resident and you do not need residencia, just an NIE, passport and copy of house deeds or lease.

I couldn't buy a car here until I had residencia.

Don't need to be resident to buy a vehicle, just need an NIE number.

But ...

Once someone has the NLV, they then need to apply for the TIE within the first month of entering Spain. They then have a further three months to await their shiny, new, card.

You don't need ANY driving licence to take a Spanish driving test. You DO need to take lessons and the two part test. The theory can be done (in badly translated, I'm led to believe) English but the test, (unless the tester is an English speaker and happy to use it), has to be done in Spanish.

Hi. Thanks for the input so far. I actually contacted Hispavan earlier today and am waiting for them to get back to me.
Regarding our situation, we have the NLV and our TIE appointment is in 2 days so we're on our way to getting temporary residency.
We'll look at driving lessons in the New Year.
Until then, any further help/ suggestions for Spain or Germany much appreciated.
