We've got a bike rack on our MH but would like to have the Fiama carri bike lift fitted. It has different fittings from the one we have so our worry is whether the holes can be filled and be fully watertight if we have to have new holes for the new frame. We have e-bikes which are 21kg each so a tad heavy to lift on and off frequently.

Not answering your question but are you happy with the extra weight of two electric bikes on your cycle rack/rear of motorhome?

We resolved a similar problem by replacing the bike rack with a towbar and a bike rack for electric bikes. Lifting bikes about a foot onto the rack

Can be too much weight on some vans. By that I mean the rear structure is not strong enough to take the weight

We have the same problem, the van is going into dealers shortly to have the rack changed to a lifting one

I'd recommend going for a towbar mounted rack, not so far to lift the bikes. You could fit blanking plugs to the holes to seal them off.
But before you do anything else check you've got the payload available, particularly the rear axle loading.

42 kg is within limits for a bike rack and if the back wall can't stand that weight then there is something wrong.
It's okay suggesting a towbar mounted one but the first question should be " have you a towbar fitted ", not everyone has one.

Our rear wall mounted cycle rack has a load capacity of 65kgs, but two X 21kgs electric bikes bouncing, after going over a ramp/pot hole, will create a lot more stress than intended,

We did not have a towbar, but fitted one specifically to carry the cycle rack

Payload is ok.

We have a large low overhang the towbar would add to that.

We have what I think is a large overhang and a towbar and cycle rack fitted.................easy lift and within rear axle limits.

Unless it was already fitted I would not dream of having a rack drilled and fitted to the back of my pride and joy.As said earlier there's a lot of bouncing around and also it seems a long way to actually lift the bikes.

The strengthening is built into the walls by the manufacturer if you move the supports you are going to have to strengthen the area it is attached to. Don't really see how you can without a lot of trouble. The manufacturers usually specify a rack that is designed to fit. We watched a guy in Spain trying to lift his electric bike on a rack certainly not the easiest thing to do. Don't forget to take the weight of the rack into consideration they are reasonably heavy.

Wasn't there a post on here a week or two ago where a funster had the brackets of a cycle rack pull through the interior boards
I wouldnt like 42 kgs of weight bouncing on the back of our mh it would be greatly exaggerated with a longer overhang

Taking the batteries off helps quite a bit with some :)

+ 17Kg for the bike rack so 59Kg total .. How much load can the back wall take .. Be worth checking with the manufacturers of MH

16kg for the bike rack so 58kg. We're off to the local Adria dealer tomorrow to check. There's a 2 bike rack on there already but the tracks are a tad too close for the bikes...it's a palaver to get them on there...so we want something better. The current rack has a 50kg limit.

The weight is without the batteries. These bikes were the lightest in the price range £1500 each. I did loads of research. I suspect you can get lighter but a lot more expenaive.
