We've just had a close shave with a fake site trying to install a fake AVG on Jen's Mac- she was busy with a uni essay and called me as the site had hacked Safari and was very insistent about wanting to install a fake version of AVG - in the end I had to Force Quit Safari and restart to get rid of it - fortunately Jen was suspicious about the alarming "alerts" from this site claiming it had found all sorts of trojans etc which it wanted to remove, and it was quite devious about anyone wanting to shut it off.
Thought to self....better renew the Macs Intego subscription (antivirus for Mac - not many antivirus programs out there for Macs and AVG certainly isn't a Mac enabled one which immediately raised the alerts, and its references to Microsoft!!!)
BEWARE - CHECK WHAT YOU DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL!!!!
