Pilote V630
Hi,

I bought a Pilote V630 (Fiat Ducato) and there are two single beds running the length of the vehicle at the back, with a small filler piece between them.

The filler piece does not quite fill in the gap between the beds. I am wanting to buy a mattress and a support which fills in this gap.

I am reasonably handy, so worst case a mattress and I can make a support piece (at a push)

Many thanks in advance :-)

Hi and welcome to the fun house! 🤪

Which way are you intending to sleep? This could be a deciding factor on how you go about this.

For a support a board just slotted in under the end of the bed frames would do the trick, as for a mattress, a memory foam type one would be better as it will have some 'give' in it to allow for any indentations at the sides/corners of the van, you'll likely need a kingsize. If you want to sleep transversely a kingsize at 5ft width won't fill the whole of the gap, if lengthways then you'll need to make infills for the edges. One thing to bear in mind though is weight, some mattresses are very heavy.

Hi,

I am sleeping along the van. What I want is the option to be able to fill in the missing piece so that three people can sleep in the bed if needed. At the moment there are two beds with the filler. I need to extend the filler for a third person (a child say) to sleep in the middle.

What I was really hoping was that there was an optional extra that can be purchased. Failing that then I was thinking to make my own.

So:

1) is there an after market product / optional extra available?
2) Failing that: is there someone that makes the support frame and memory foam mattress to my specifications?

Many thanks :-)

Depending on the age/size of a child the centre section length may be suitable anyway. As for a filler, just make a template of what you want along with measurements (depth etc) and get a piece of suitable foam then cut it to size and make a cover for it, then a board underneath as I suggested should do the trick, if you want a thin board you'd just need to make some supports for underneath it. Without seeing it in the flesh it's difficult to say the best way to make this bit though but it wouldn't be difficult.

When we had to make up beds the joins used to drive us nuts, so we bought a full width/length memory foam topper, sorted (y)
