I'm going to get a Lithium battery. I'm trying to decide whether to fit it myself, including the DC-DC and mains charger...

The Victron Orion isn't a great DC-DC charger though, it's pretty inefficient.

That's a big investment money wise - I'm not techy but many who are on here so if you haven't already worth posting a thread to pick their brains as lots of great experience available from others. I've read a few of the discussions but looks like lithium isn't necessarily plug & play.

It's not very efficient. It dumps a lot of heat. And when it gets hot, it charges at a much reduced rate. People end up bolting them to big bits of metal or adding fans to keep them cool.

The Votronic equivalents are several times more efficient (and have a small fan built in) so don't suffer the same issues.

that’s interesting as i’ve had mine a short while and just about to transfer it into the new moho when I pick it up.

Mine was under a side bench seat so out of sight so i’ve never checked it for heat but always checking it’s progress whilst driving using the Victron app and it always appears to have worked as it should.

Can’t compare it to any other make as this is the first i’ve had, but it was purchased after reading loads of positive reviews and feedback and using one of their Smart MPPT controllers

I've got a Victron Smart MPPT solar controller and a Victron shunt. I'll probably get the Victron mains charger too.

Other than the configuration, I don't think the Orion provides that many bits of data over bluetooth either, just voltage I think? So you're not losing much if you go off-brand.
