I have this issue since going lithium 6 months ago now, but here in Spain my engine is seldom, if ever, cold enough to need help from the glow-plugs. I am in the habit of ignition on, scan the indicators and start. Takes about 3 seconds from inserting the key.
I could implement the fix, but need I bother?

Fiats are notorious for not liking being started until all the lights go out except oil & battery. Also many vehicles use the glow plugs in conjunction with the adblue & regeneration system.
