Hi anyone use awnings ? what is best fixed or drive off? inflatable? thanks.

Only use a proper awning in winter or early spring if staying for several days.

Then it's the simplest to put up and pack away and only big enough to accommodate boots, wet jackets dog towels and shelter the door.
Tried the drive away type... Not for us.

We have an inflatable Vango awning, once you've erected it a few times and had some practice, it takes around 20 minutes to put up. We have a Toad so we set up the MOHO to be perfectly (and I mean PERFECTLY!!) level and throw the awning up and don't move either until it's time to leave. I always have a 7 step set of aluminium stepladders in the garage to assist when reaching for the sliding strip/roof attachment. Kathryn fills it with dog crates, laundry baskets, portable wardrobes, chairs, tables, dogs, beer, wine, shoes (HUNDREDS OF SHOES!!) golf clubs, in fact I think it's a Tardis! Normally only bother to erect it if we know we'll be on a site for at least 3 nights.

Cheers!

Russ

Never had one with the Moho, can’t see they need. We had one when we had a caravan and it was useful but a complete pain in the derrière to erect and dismantle. Take it down when wet and youve got a drying problem when you get home.
But I guess the more modern versions are easier ……….hopefully!

We use the wind out awning all the time. Especially with the wall mounted clips for the awning legs, so no need to peg those in. It only takes a minute to set up or take down and it can be done on tarmac. The walls we have, but have not yet used. Not sure we ever will. We just don't stay still enough.

We’ve got one on our pvc nearly doubles the space under cover. Can put it up the sides and pegged down in 10mins, comes down even quicker if needed.
Great for those damp days where you still want to sit outside but stay dry or in the shade when hot as we can take down any side independently.

One of the main reasons for changing from a caravan to a motorhome was that we were weary of putting up the awning, and even more weary of taking it down when it was wet! We use the wind out awing on the MH and a windbreak.

Pro quest 4, screen shelter suits us, easy to put up. Lots of tips on you tube.
