Hi all, my partner and I are new to motorhoming and picked up our first van last week. As you can imagine there’s been lots to learn and we’re still finding our feet. However, I am completely stumped as to what the problem is with a new avtex tv that has wifi enabled and why it won’t even find the mobile router we’ve had put in the van (even though both our phone connect with no issue). It also picks up everyone else’s wifi connections and even the ones at home but despite trying several different ones with 100% correct passwords they all fail at the end of the connection progress bar. I’ve brought the tv into the office and connected through a wired connection and no issues whatsoever. Firstly, anyone know why it won’t pick up the HUAWEI mobile router, and secondly anyone got a clue why it won’t connect to any router via wifi? I’ve looked in all the settings and online troubleshooting and there’s nothing. Thanks in advance.

Have a look here and see if you can update the software .

if you have connected your phones via Bluetooth It may just be a case of enabling WIFI in the Avtex menu

Thank you. I need to remove the quick release plate we put on the back of the tv so I can see the serial number. I’ll do that tomorrow and see if there’s a software update required. Thanks again

There’s nothing in any of the menus to turn wifi on and off. You can opt to set up a wired or wifi connection and it scans the wifi connections available but comes up with fail at the end, every single time. It also doesn’t pick up the motor home wifi in any of the scans I’ve done.

As mentioned before a little more information about the model would be helpful, none of us have any wish to belittle you so we try to tread carefully as we have no knowledge of your level of understanding,
By the way I don't have a great deal but if I can help I will.;)

Interesting as the Avtex manual seems to indicate that, after selecting ‘wi-fi network’ in the menu, you should then have the option of using the cursor keys to select ‘wi-fi network on’……..
Do you have a copy of the manual to hand to verify that this option is available?

Is the Moho WiFi putting out 2.4g or 5g?

Also have you told the Avtex to forget all previous WiFi networks?

It does have the option, sorry, yes it has been ‘on’ all the time

Sorry, I did reply but forgot to attach it to your message and I just put it in the chat thread. The model is 279TS-F. Thank you 😊

I picked up my new van in September with Avtex TV fitted as option. I seem to remember I had the same issue. Luckily the salesman came to check on me and he used his phone to connect and it was fine. Once that was done it seemed to be fine and able to connect to the Huawei mobile router. It was really odd. I have since swapped out that router in favour of a Teltonika. Sorry I cannot provide any explanation but confirmation that you are not the only one. Guy

Have you tried using the tv on mains to rule out any power issues on the 12v side, ie i had an issue recently on one of my streaming devices where in certain configurations the device would not connect to wifi if i had my usb powered hard drive connected. Not saying yours is the same issue but if it doesnt work on mains power i would of thought the issue is with the tv itself.
