Autotrail imala 734H
Exp
since 2010
Hi just joined forum, but have been a motorhomer for 10 years.
Yesterday we ordered an Autotrail Imala 734HB, but in the 2021 spec. Has a various amount of upgrades, inc full leather, auto box, media pack etc. 2021 model comes with the 140BHP as standard.
My question is does anyone have experience of this particular model appreciate only up to 2020 spec, and any advice given would be welcomed.

Welcome.. From a former Autotrail owner ( Now Burstner ). ;)

With a standard maximum weight of 3500kg.. and mass in running order of 3260.
Like many vans now you will have bugger all carrying weight, 240kg !!! How heavy is your passenger ? then food then clothes etc etc. Wont be long before your overloaded and illegal on the road. Some of these vans should be labeled "unfit for purpose" They do offer a free upgrade to 3650 so that gives a bit more weight BUT you need to have a C1 license.

Sorry if it sounds a bit negative but to many times we see new members come on here after they have got a vehicle and then discover limitations.. Its not just Autotrail, others are the same.

Hi Tonka, thanks for coming back. Yes to free upgrade to 3650 and yes to C1 licence. I currently run on a Ducato maxi chassis with a Bessacar E695. I agree as standard and limited to 3500 without a C1 licence, naff all in terms of carrying capacity.
Currently looking at electric urban bikes to limit weight on the new one, as current set up is tow bar and thule 3 bike carrier which i can get away with.
As with most people, i carry a lot of stuff that doesn't get used, so will be doing a full housekeeping exercise on what we carry in future

Autotrail now seems to be advertising their vans (at least they did mine in 2019 fitment) with driver + passenger + their food and cloths (presumably for several days), full tank of gas, half tank of water and full gas bottles, in addition to the MIRO (so the MIRO then the AT Miro+) and then the Max weight. Obviously additional extras such as satellite and other bits and bobs need to be taken off the remaining payload.
Left us with a reasonable payload which we have yet to fill (4.5t). Perhaps the OP has similar AT Miro?

Hi from the technical specs i could find, MIRO was at 3260, inc essential habitation equipment. My understanding is MIRO was inclusive of driver est at 85kgs and full tank of diesel, but no additional loadings

Its annoying that they change the MIRO specs to suit themselves.. When i bought my 2012 apache 700 the MIRO included a full fresh water tank. On later models they then quoted with water empty.. That was 100lts = 100kg difference !! Delaware, no issues as you have the heavy chassis (y)

Yes, your right... so if you have a 3500kg version you have 240 to play with.

240 - passenger(s) - any extra battery or solar panel / towbar etc.
Less food, pot and pans, clothes, bikes, chairs..
Dont forget water, as above add in a full tank and that could take off a lot..
Actually just seen spec and its 135ltr !! Bigger than my current van.

Hi, so actions from thread are as follows-
Both of us need to get on a diet, one more than the other
Only carry what we use, need to tell the wife we are not expecting 10 guests and dont need 3 sets of plates, cups etc
6 bath towels are not necessary
On the weight bridge after essentials loaded
