Old wild camper in transit
As anyone had there windscreen replaced by auto glass whilst ‘ on the road ‘ did it go smoothly ???

Had my Movano windscreen replaced by them at home... but do not see any issues with them doing it anywhere...
They are totally self contained so don't see any differance between your driveway, campsite, carpark etc..
Oh and yes, went smothly.. absolutely no issues.

Autoglass are all "on the road", as far as I'm aware they have no workshops anymore.
When I booked mine I mentioned their fitting centre in Watford and was told it and all the others closed, they are just mobile now.

Had Ducato screen replaced a couple of weeks ago, at campground, but it could have been service station, supermarket car park,
outside my house.

NOTE: Make sure they remove the rear camera video screen and check the mount before removing factory mount from new screen.
Long story short the fitters did not, fortunatly they had a 2nd Ducato windscreen onboard that they fitted and hoping the 2nd install
of the day did not require factory mount.

You shouldn't have any problem with a (readily available) Transit windscreen.

service station, supermarket car park,
Surly got to ask permission from land owner , yes i know they havent any ‘ workshops ‘ outside house not an option busy rd plus ondrive not an option only enough room to open door enough to get out ?

It was a CCC site, I just told site manager they were coming, that was only because I had to get the van out of the storage compound.
Not sure I'd think of asking at service station, supermarket etc.

First screen brought out wrong one because of forward facing camera , mk 8
Where did you meet them for the first windscreen fit attempt?

Learning opportunity to double check make, model when booking.
When booking they used registration # to get make, model but also confirmed as it was a motorhome.

I would expect the fitter to be familiar with permissions etc. as it can't his first call out to work in a public place - very few windscreens break on the drive at home.

I read somewhere if a forward facing camers fitted it has to be re calibration ? In a workshop ?

On my sisters driveway more room , when he arrived he immediately looked and said i got wrong screen , with a forward facing camera ( not fitted ) they got to take into account the ‘ cowling cover ‘ ?

Would appear the "no workshops" means windscreen fitting.
On Autoglass website it does mention ADAS calibration in "centres", though video shows the "centre" is a couple of portacabins and a "gazebo".

My last contact with them was handled very professionally by, I believe, their commercial division.
My first contact however was hampered by a language problem. They seemed unable to understand it was an A class motorhome and not a Fiat Ducato, to the point where I had to confirm it was not a bullet proof windscreen!!

I could go on but trust the OEM windscreen I insisted upon will be satisfactorily fitted.

All the best

Had our Fiat Ducato replaced in Spain 2 years by auto glass ago a great service.

For anyone needing motorhome glass including acrylic side windows I can't recommend this lot highly enough, after being messed around for three weeks by National Windscreens they then subbed it out to these guys, they rang on a Tuesday to confirm make and model and to ask for a photo and came out and fitted it on the Thursday, Hymer A class. Speak to Lucy, they are insurance approved.
