they only give you maps for fee so they can track where you are going!

Google maps has an incognito setting ..

• To turn on Incognito mode, open the app, tap your profile picture, and press Turn on Incognito Mode.

If privacy is important then Google Maps “Incognito Mode” does not help. It is actually a very good example of the quite objectionable practices of Google towards privacy.

Going incognito won’t keep Google from knowing or making use of what you’re doing with Maps. Your activity is still available to “other Google services”.

Perhaps most importantly, incognito doesn’t affect how other apps can use your Maps activity. This means all the apps with permissions you didn’t pay attention to are continuing to use your Maps data for their own purposes. They are paying Google for the access to your location, which is one of the “other Google services” mentioned deep in the Terms and Conditions.

Incognito mode for Maps has its uses but it doesn’t make you anonymous. You might be able to hide where you go from your partner, but you aren’t hiding from those who gather Maps data about you.

Anyway all this is only important if you think that it’s OK to pull the wool over people’s eyes using slick sounding preference settings and almost incomprehensible terms and conditions!
